The Kick off "TEXMED clusters"
The new cooperation project "TEXMED clusters" was launched on 27 and 28 February 2014 in Prato (Italy). Funded by the Multilateral CBC program "Mediterranean Sea Basin" (ENPI CBCMED), this project will extend over two years (2014-2015). It aims to strengthen cross-border integration of industries Textile & Clothing of the Mediterranean area and cooperation between the different actors involved in this sector.
Eight partners in the Mediterranean region are involved in this project, namely the Centre Technique du Textile (Tunisia), MFCPOLE (Tunisia), TEXFOR (Spain), Sepee (Greece), FEDCOC (Egypt), UPTI (Palestine) and JCATE (Jordan), under the coordination of the Industrial Union of Prato (Italy) with the collaboration of the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce.
The project include the following specific objectives: to increase the quantity of links, partnerships and cooperation between the Textile & Clothing industries of the Mediterranean basin, and to speed up an industry evolution toward an integrated T/C Med system to replace the old "delocalization + subcontracting” model with a more advanced and balanced "multi-location and co-contracting" model.
The total budget of the project "TEXMED clusters" is € 2,000.00 million cofounded by the European Union (ENPI CBCMED Mediterranean Basin Program) through the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI).
The ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2007-2013 is an initiative of multilateral cross-border cooperation funded by the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI).
The general objective of the Programme is to contribute to promoting the sustainable and harmonious cooperation process at the Mediterranean Basin level by dealing with the common challenges and enhancing its endogenous potential.
